Gold Jacksonville Florida
We Buy Gold Jax has been in business for more than 20 years and our in-house, certified gold appraisers have more than 65 years of combined gold industry experience. Because most gold sellers don't have that in-depth expertise, we've compiled a list of the most common gold FAQs (frequently asked questions) that we receive to help prepare you for your first scrap gold selling experience:
Q. How do you determine how much my gold is worth?
A. We base our prices on the weight of your pure, solid gold items, its gold content (karat) and the daily price of gold reported on the London and New York stock exchange. A simple Internet search of the latest stock exchange reports will give you an idea of the prices you can expect from reputable gold buyers.
Q. Why does the price you offer change daily?
A. Stock prices can change minute-by-minute. Dozens of factors can be at play worldwide, including the strengthening or weakening of the U.S. dollar, or even political unrest in countries where gold mining is a major industry. We keep a close watch on the gold stock exchange rates and offer you the highest price in town for your scrap gold. The good news: Over the past few years, gold has consistently traded higher than it has in the past century.
Q. My jewelry has been appraised by my insurance company/jewelry dealer at a higher price. Why doesn't We Buy Gold Jax offer the same price?
A. Jewelry dealers and insurance companies include factors such as aesthetic beauty, craftsmanship and historic value and place a value on your jewelry based on what it might fetch from a jeweler or antiques dealer. At We Buy Gold Jax, we're interested only in a gold item's "melt value," which refers to the amount we can expect to resell your gold to be refined and used to make new gold items. We do not take aesthetics or historic value into consideration when making you an offer. However, if we believe that your item may fetch a higher price sold intact to a jewelry or antiques dealer, we'll tell you.
Q. How do you test my gold for purity and content?
A. Our testing method includes weighing your items, visually inspecting them with a jeweler's lens and conducting an acid test. Depending on a small amount of scratched gold's reaction to a small drop of nitric acid, we can tell if your item is solid gold, base gold counterfeited to look like gold or gold plated over a base metal or silver. We also use scratch tests to determine the karat level of your gold. Most countries, including the U.S. require manufacturers to stamp the gold content on jewelry items, but few enforce those laws. This leaves lots of room for fraud and it's not at all uncommon for jewelry to be stamped incorrectly.
Q. How do I go about selling my scrap gold?
A. It's simple. Bring your unwanted gold items to We Buy Gold Jax. Our in-house, certified gold appraisers will thoroughly inspect your gold and offer you a price based on its weight and content and the current gold exchange rates within minutes. Your gold never leaves your sight until you've accepted our offer.
Q. What types of gold items do you accept?
A. We accept any type of solid gold item you can find, no matter its condition. We'll take mangled, broken chains, stopped watches, dental gold, gold knick knacks, gold belt buckles, etc. You name it - if it's solid, pure gold, we'll take it.
Q. How do I get paid for my gold?
A. We pay you in cash the same day you bring your gold in.
Q. Where is We Buy Gold Jax located?
A. We're located inside River City Jewelry in the Jacksonville Regional Shopping Center anchored by J.C. Penney and Winn-Dixie at the corner of Lem Turner and Dunn avenues on Jacksonville's Northside.
